LOUVERDRAPE®
VERTICAL BLINDS Those who simply describe LouverDrape® Vertical Blinds as a kind of Venetian blinds do a great injustice to this decorative concept of vertical slats. LouverDrape is much more than that. Keeping out the sun is only one of the functions performed by LouverDrape without much ado. The graceful flowing appearance of such a flexible wall of LouverDrape Vertical slats appeal to more and more people for more and more reasons. The fine, filtered light that LouverDrape allows to enter the living space is one of them. A restrained, subdued light that is not accompanied by harsh shadows. And the overall impression of space and calm created by such a LouverDrape Vertical wall. LouverDrape walls promote a simple, sober style of living, working and relaxing. Modesty prevents us from calling it an ingenious solution. But we do like to point out the incredible simplicity of the idea: vertical slats made of fabric or vinyl whose position can be adjusted according to ones needs or wishes by a simple mechanism which guarantees many years of carefree use. Every technical detail of LouverDrape Verticals has been sent back to the drawing board many times and has been tested barbarously in the laboratory. Rightly so. For it has to live up to the name of LouverDrape. That creates an obligation. The obligation to offer uncompromising quality. Not only is your new LouverDrape Vertical very beautiful at first sight, it will remain that way for a long time. This is a result of the tested quality of the materials used, the careful assembly and continuous checking of all the components that comprise your LouverDrape Vertical Blind. LouverDrape Vertical Blinds Specifications
Zirlon® Headrail System To maximize your view or when space is at a premium, choose LouverDrape Zirlon. The LouverDrape Zirlon headrail stacks back in a third less space than other vertical blind headrail systems.
Exclusive to LouverDrape, the Zirlon Wheeled System was designed for durability and superior performance even when used by people unfamiliar with vertical blinds-such as in hospitals, schools and hotels. The Zirlon system features carriers that are only 5/16" wide instead of the standard 7/16", which means that the blinds will stack in considerably less space when drawn. For design purposes, the smaller stacking advantage means that a smaller wall pocket is needed to contain the drawn blinds. The Zirlon Wheeled Headrail System is compatible with LouverDrapes entire line of vinyl, vinyl with fabric insert, perforated vinyl and fabric vanes. The AutoWand option replaces the usual cord and chain controls with a single plastic wand which opens and closes the vanes as well as glides them along the track to traverse the blinds. An especially desirable safety feature in schools and hospitals, AutoWand also provides insurance against future service repairs. To maximize seasonal sunlight control and everyday privacy, all LouverDrape Vertical headrails rotate a full 360 degrees. AutoWand Headrail System With LouverDrape AutoWand a single wand offers one-control convenience. Twist the wand to rotate the louver vanes, pull the wand to traverse. The patented system eliminates dangling cords and chains which can potentially endanger small children.

A Short History of LouverDrape In 1937 Robert James Jim Cayton launched Vogue Venetian Blinds. In 1943, while serving as the first President of the Venetian Blind Association of America, he had a conversation with a gentleman who held the patent for a Vertical Blind. After securing the patent rights to the vertical blind, in 1948 Jim renamed his company LouverDrape and in 1971 he had built a 70,000 square foot factory in Santa Monica. When Jim sold the company in 1981, LouverDrapes facilities included more than ½ million square feet, 700 employees, and over 100 distributors in 100 countries world-wide. Known throughout the industry for its premium vertical blinds, LouverDrape also produced cellular and pleated shades and horizontal blinds. Primarily a product for commercial design use, vertical blinds made a successful move into the residential market in the early 1970s. In 1993 the Newell company acquired Levolor, a leading manufacturer and marketer of window treatments, and then in 1994, Newell acquired Home Fashions, Inc., the owners, at that time, of LouverDrape. Then in 1997, Newell acquired Kirsch, a leader in branded drapery hardware and custom window coverings. These companies were combined with Levolor and together they are operated as a single entity called Levolor Home Fashions. LouverDrape was consolidated into the Kirsch line and is now branded as Kirsch - LouverDrape Vertical Blinds. LouverDrape no longer manufactures cellular and pleated shades or horizontal blinds.
